About TASC’s Center for Health and Justice
Advancing solutions at the intersection of health and justice
Who We Are
TASC’s Center for Health and Justice works with communities, governments, and organizations to address complex public health and public safety challenges through evidence-based strategies and cross-system collaboration. Our work is informed by decades of practice and grounded in the belief that the right intervention, delivered at the right time, can change outcomes for individuals and systems alike.
CHJ builds on TASC’s legacy of leadership at the intersection of health and justice, translating frontline experience into scalable solutions that support reform and accountability.
TASC’s Center for Health and Justice is a national and international leader in advancing effective, compassionate, and accountable responses to challenges at the intersection of healthcare and the justice system. As a center of excellence within TASC, CHJ helps communities strengthen systems, improve outcomes, and redirect people into services that heal.
Our Approach
We are bridge builders. We help people find the path to recovery, and we help partners chart the path to reform.
CHJ serves as a bridge between research, policy, and practice. We partner with stakeholders across justice, health, and community systems to design strategies that are locally informed, evidence-based, and sustainable.
Our approach emphasizes collaboration, practical implementation, and measurable impact. We work alongside partners to understand local context, identify opportunities for improvement, and support coordinated responses that prioritize care over punishment.
What We Do
Through consulting, technical assistance, training, research, and policy development, CHJ supports communities in advancing health- and justice-focused reforms. Our work spans deflection and diversion, systems planning, law enforcement and community partnerships, treatment and recovery capacity, data and technology solutions, and international engagement.
Across all areas, CHJ helps partners translate knowledge into action and build systems that are more effective, equitable, and responsive.
Our work includes:
Deflection and Diversion
Redirecting people to care before system involvement
Treatment and Recovery Capacity
Expanding access to care and strengthening recovery systems
Systems Mapping and Action Planning
