Medications-in-Hand: Early Learnings from Medicaid Reentry Waiver Implementation in California

In partnership with Justice System Partners, CHJ’s Senior Director for Health & Justice, Maureen McDonnell, co-authored a new report examining the implementation of California’s Medicaid Reentry Initiative and the challenges counties face in ensuring people leaving jail have access to necessary medications. Drawing on interviews with 11 counties, focus groups, and a statewide survey, the report identifies emerging best practices and lessons for strengthening medication continuity and broader continuity of care during reentry.
