Aryn Keyel Datta, J.D. is a Program Manager with deep expertise in criminal justice reform,
legal research, and public policy. At the Center for Health and Justice (CHJ), Aryn works on the
State and Local Deflection team, helping to lead Deflection initiatives that support behavioral
health and community-based efforts, and partnering with justice system stakeholders to develop
more equitable and effective responses for individuals with substance use and mental health
needs.
Aryn holds a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School and a Master of Arts in Ethics, Peace, and
Global Affairs from American University. Her academic and professional background reflects a
strong commitment to systems change and advocacy, grounded in both legal and ethical
frameworks. Prior to joining CHJ, she contributed to research, litigation support, and public
education efforts at the ACLU of Pennsylvania, the New Jersey judiciary, and several national
justice policy organizations. Her work has addressed critical issues such as voting rights, felony
disenfranchisement, and access to justice.
A skilled communicator and collaborative leader, Aryn brings analytical rigor, strategic insight,
and a passion for equity to every project. Her role in advancing deflection reflects her dedication
to transforming the justice system through compassionate, community-centered approaches.
